Painting
only subjects that touch me in some visceral way, I strive to capture a moment
or a feeling. Each painting is a revelation of who I am and how I see the world. |
| Growing up in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina, I was given
the chance to experience life in simple terms. Surrounded by age-old farms and a
culture rich in tradition, I truly felt a part of the landscapes I painted. |

Having moved to Colorado in 1982, I brought with me this same passion and have
found the Colorado landscapes, culture and people to be equally moving. |
| Often
begun on location and completed in my studio, my paintings begin with many preliminary
sketches to establish the composition. Applying color and value on my paper, I
lose myself in the painting. Time ceases and my life begins.
